Ya I had no idea they were that expensive when I bought my machine, I am going to get a spare so maybe I will look into that one also. I also asked both dealerships about tools so I can torque my clutches cause I haven't had time to make any and they both told me they impact them on cause cf moto doesn't supply any clutch tools for removal or installation!!!!!  The place I bought it from said they were able to modifiy a tool they use for the can ams, interesting!  China needs to step up their game
They do too have spanner wrenches...now finding them here might be tricky but I made my own like several others here have. And they have standard nuts..I think the Secondary is 36mm and the primary is 32mm. You can get those at Harbor Freight.  They are both right-hand threaded and require 80ftlbs torque. Most any 1/2" drive torque wrench works just fine. But to just change the belt you just have to pull the cover, use one of the cover bolts on the threaded spreader hole on the secondary, pop the old one off and the new one on...remove bolt and reassemble.

DO know however sometimes that secondary nut is rusted to the secondary spindle and is a MoFo to break loose the first time. It tool Heat, many choice words, a massive spanner and a 1000ftlb air impact to get mine off. But most aren't that way.

I have the sockets use them at work and ya it took a 3/4" impact to break the secondary loose. I did try the screw in the secondary but wasn't able to get the belt off without pulling the clutch, I wanted to clock it to the b2 position anyway. So you have had success getting the belt off without pulling the clutches? I will have to try it again before I put the cover on. Thanks for your input.

Come to think of it, no, the belt won't pass by the top part of the cover.... so you will have to pull the clutches.

Just an FYI, CFMoto changed vendors as far as the belts are concerned. They used to be Bando, but switched to Mitsobushi. This change had put another delay in the wet clutch kit R&D because the Mitsobushi belt has different dimensions.

As with everything else I'm fed from CFMoto, the parts guy in MN, Tim Gruba, the belts weren't different other than vendor. That I already knew was a line of fried Bologna but I thought I'd ask to see what I would be told.

Belts are the same, cfmoto has been using these two different makers for years. I posted a photo about this about a month or so back.

I missed the post. According to Tim who's the parts manager this was recent. Up until a few months ago I had only ever been sent the Bando belts.

From the Bando belt I have in my hands, it's narrower and a touch shorter.

See photos. The belt on the left is the Bando that came out of a ZForce 800. The belt on the right is the Mitsobushi replacement belt... Clearly, shorter AND narrower...

Wow...that is a huge difference. I guess if it is shorter, then it has to be narrower to set anywhere close to the same rationing the stock belt did. Has anyone tried this Gates belt?

No but I  may be soon LOL  I had my belt squall once while out riding this weekend.  In my experience that means it might have been glazed a bit and may need replaced soon.
I can imagine a world completely at peace.  A world where there are no weapons, no war, and no violence at all.  And I can imagine us taking over that world because they would never expect it.

How many miles are you getting out of your belts?  I have around 1200 on mine with no issues.  My Polaris Sportsman has about 2400 miles and I am on my 3rd belt.  I do try and take it easy on my machines.  I'm looking at it from a preventative maintenance point of view.

How many miles can vary a TON.  what size tires? Mud? Dust? Hot environment? Are you keeping the belt cool? Belts like tires can harden up over the years also and become less flexable/dry rot.  You should be able to get around 1500 miles out of a belt if you are taking good care of your machine and you got a good quality belt to start with mine has ~1200 miles but had a hard life before I got the machine so im sure that shortened its life up a bit.

I would think one can expect to get more out of one with a wet clutch too. For example, my Brute Force went through OE belts in about 1500 miles...until I switch to the Teryx belt. It now has 2500 on it and is still almost like new. It may well be the last belt I put on it. Now my brother has an old Yamaha 660 Grizz with over 6000 miles...on the original factory belt.. and he plows snow with it...a lot! The Grizz also has the Dura-belt system which is mostly just a wet clutch setup like we have. Granted we are heavier, but I would suspect we will get pretty decent miles as long as we keep the heat and stress down, keep the garbage out and be in low range before it's needed...not after the fact.
