Well the CA filter cover came in today......and aside from some external surface differences, it is an exact match to the CFM 800 cover. Everywhere I can get a caliper into shows exactly the same. I even installed it to confirm seal surface, bolts and pattern would match. They do so this conversion will bolt up and seal to the block, and there is room for the spin-on filter. The existing oil lines need to be adjusted to one side but that's it. Before you get all gun-ho and get one there is some additional info that needs to be reviewed. We know the CA filter is 1.7mm shorter then the CFM's so we can assume that the adaptor shaft is that much shorter. That may not be a real problem as the nipple the oil filter slides onto is 12mm if not a bit more. The real problem I see is using the CFM's filter rubber on the adaptor as shown. I placed both filters side by side and pulled the rubbers. The CA's filter body hole is 1mm larger then the CFM's. When I put the CFM's rubber in the CA's hole, it fits loose and when I install it on the machine it's still too loose to stop bypassing IMO. But..as you see, the part of the rubber seal that fits the nipple on the CFM's case is .76mm larger then the CFMs making it fit the nipple...well..looser then I would like to see but it does make contact all the way around.
So, in order for this to work the best as is, you will want to install the rubber off of a CA filter. Of course the best thing that could happen is I can talk Mr RPM into making one for the CFMoto that has a shaft 1.7mm longer and a 1mm smaller opening for the CFM rubber. The rest can stay the same. I will present this to them. Here is the final numbers:
