Spin-On Oil Filter Possibility
« on: March 30, 2016, 09:03:54 AM »
Because the 800 is a copy of the Rotax 800..to a point...and it even takes the same oil filter (I believe), I searched for an adaptor to use a spin-on and found this. There are several designs and one being with no ports as we already have a cooler and lines for 85 bucks. I may do this at some point to see if it works. I must point out that it should work, but if CFMoto made any changes to the case design pertaining to the oil filter, it may not work.

Check it out:

First obviously the ease of replacement...just spin old one off and a new one on. Also, the selection of longer and better filters. And no need to special order a filter. Just get what you need from your auto parts store.

I did this on a motorcycle I once owned. It was a much better, cleaner and easier installation when doing an oil and filter change. I would really consider this purchase!

They do use the same filter as canam. I'm unsure about the filter cover bolt holes lining up and the case bore diameter. If they are close enough than this would work out. I check my outlander's oil cap when I change the oil next time if that helps.

I'll do a little more research and measuring and if it pans out, I'll buy one to test.

If it does work, I'm sure the maker would be happy to add another model it fits. If not maybe if given the specs they might offer one up.

That would be great. I thought I might buy a cover off eBay to test but if you have one to see..perfect.

It may take me a little time to get to it as I'm finally getting around to building kitchen cabinets and the wife has lost patients with it. It's only been 6 years, not sure what the rush is.

Well... she needs those cabinets..we can wait. :) Maybe there will be some time to sneak it in somewhere.
