Engine control module re-flash???
« on: October 13, 2019, 07:57:57 PM »
My dealer called me and left a message that my 2018 Zforce 1000 needed to be brought in for an ECM re-flash, he said the problem could lead to the engine stumbling and eventually leave me stranded. He said it takes a week for the turn around.

Has anyone heard of this?

Yes, I have. Seems a long turn-around time though.

I saw mention of this recall on a FB group but I don't know much more about it.  I asked my dealer as I have a 2018 1000 also and all he told me was that I'll get a letter from cfmoto if mine is included in the recall range.  A week seems excessive, they must have to send the ECU out for reflashing.  Mine hasn't had any stumbling issues so hopefully it's not affected.

They replaced mine and a friends last January. No flashing involved, just a replacement. Ours would go into an extremely low power mode-maybe a  very lean condition. Shutting it down and restarting seemed to rebot things and it never let either of us down. We both have very early cars-mine the first sold in NM, his within a day in Az.

The 2019 800's have an overheating issue where they wll stall out and leave you stranded. It shoots a code, I dont remember the code now though. Ihad my ECU replaced and it's supposed to fix it, havent been able to test it yet with the cold weather.

I contacted my dealer again and they told me their sales guy was wrong about the recall? My dealer has done some pretty stupid things in the past and I hesitate to let them service it.

Where can I get solid information on this? Is there a list published anywhere?

Thanks for the help

I had the issue, but only in the summer when it's hot out, havent had it in the winter yet. The code is P0172 if I remember correctly. They replaced my ecu under warranty but like i said, I wont know if it's fixed until next summer on a hot day.
