Hey everyone, my sound bar is draining my battery so I purchased a disconnect switch. I want to run it off the negative terminal....with that said do all of the negative connections go to the switch first then the switch to the battery?  Appreciate any help

Hey everyone, my sound bar is draining my battery so I purchased a disconnect switch. I want to run it off the negative terminal....with that said do all of the negative connections go to the switch first then the switch to the battery?  Appreciate any help

No negative connections run to any switches. Negative...aka neutral or ground circuits all lead back to the battery by one means or another AFTER the load. The load is whatever is being supplied power from the positive side through a fuse or switch. Your disconnect switch should cut power to the load (in your case the sound bar) , not the ground. If you had powered the sound bar through a relay triggered by keyed power, such as the accessory circuit, it would be disconnected when the key is off and you wouldn't need anything else.     

Sorry I'm confused now. So should I run the switch just for the sound bar but run it off the positive side? My brain is hurting after reading 2 days worth of internet back and forth discussions. Sound bar has power(red) black (neutral) and an orange wire and blue wire. What goes where and do I even need the disconnect switch? I also have a 5 pin rocker switch but wasn't sure how to connect it all.

Let me ask-where/what did you connect the RED wire to? Also what did you connect the BLACK wire to?

Red to battery and black grounded to the frame.

Red to battery and black grounded to the frame.

Then just install the disconnect switch in the red wire.
