ZForce 800 EX, 53 & Trail / Re: Rear axle
« on: January 18, 2017, 07:38:22 PM »
I returned my Zforce 800 a week after I purchased it as I told them I could not tolerate the noise from the back end.  This Z was my second SxS so I knew that noise wan not right.  I took the mechanic for a ride and he confirm the noise and actually said it sounded like a wood planner especially while accelerating.  I left it with them and returned a week later.  Now I am no mechanic but they told me they ordered in some new shims as the diff was too tight. I took it for a test drive before leaving and the noise was no longer there.  5000 km later and still no noise   :-)

My rear shocks with 2 springs will be replaced next week.  Dealer told me he will have to replace both because CFMoto changed the model. My current shock preload are 1.5 inches more than factory setting.  These new shocks from what I can see in the pictures and when the dealer showed them to me don't seem to have much threads left to add 1.5 inches of preload.

I'm interested to know if a wheel alignment is required after installing a lift kit or modifying the preload?

Too expensive for my budget.  Here they are on the cfmoto.ca web site.  5200$ with no heater

Ahhhh, when I removed the original filter the lip/groove end was in the filter.   I had a dog of time trying to get the UNI 6229AST on.  Thanks NMK, now I know I have it on the right way.   :)

When I tried to assemble the UNI filter to the original adapter it kept sliding off as is seemed to be flared on that end.  I flipped the adapter and used the other end where I found it to more secure.  I'm feeling some what insecure about the assembly fearing it may fall off.  I'm questioning if I should go out an purchase some pipe to replace the adapter.

Wouldn't loosening the adjuster on the diff casing achieve the same thing ?

Good question. They told me they opened the diff.  I will ask them if they used the adjuster. What ever they did totally resolved the issue.

Have the rear differential loosened up, it was assembled too tight!

My first ZForce ran quiet under load but my second Zforce was horrific!  It sounded like a wood planner.  I knew it was not normal and my dealer agreed knowing of my experience I had with my first CFMoto. They opened the differential and changed the shims, loosening it up and now it is super quiet other than the standard whining of the clutch.

ZForce 800 EX, 53 & Trail / Re: Painting the roll cage
« on: April 07, 2016, 10:38:57 AM »
I'm actually hoping to change the color to something other than black.  Hopefully someone will chime in and let us know if they were successful.

I did some research and found a site that claims powder coat is an excellent paint base to be painter over.

On my first ZForce I also used a Rust-Oleum flat black for touch up that blended very well with the cage however this time I'm hoping to change the color.

Has anyone had some success painting the roll cage without having to bring it to a specialty shop.  I'm considering painting mine up to another color and I'm unsure how to go about it.

The existing cage paint surface seems to be corse enough to be primed over but I would like to get some feedback from others if they have done this.
