Rock lights
« on: May 23, 2017, 01:46:09 AM »
I love these, although I have plenty of light to see miles in front of me, I didn't have lights to see what I was on top of. I do like night rides so 1st attempt $20 cheap LEDs from a tractor supply store. After hours of testing, wiring, tucking etc etc... epic fail! 2 bad LEDs. Head blink after about 10secs. 2nd attempt, Alpena Tough Pods, Awesome lights!!! Emailed the company to let them know they have a great product, and sent in some pics. In return got 2 nice Alpena shirts! I highly recommend this lil upgrade if you like to ride at night....and look very cool too.😎

I'll get the pics of where they are mounted soon, hopefully today.
Backs are on the plastic part of the rear fender (the part that doesn't break away) and the fronts are mounted to the Firewall facing forward.
NOTE: Passengers side the screws are under the glove box. Dummy me lil touch to get into but obviously very possible.

gfmoto,

Thanks for the pics. I mounted mine up today. Did you wire yours to a switch? I wired mine to the running lights, that way I didn't need to add more switches to the dash as of yet. It will be only a matter of time before I find something else I need to mount that will need a switch....LOL

I did do a small switch, wasnt sure where I wanted to mount it either, so I found a very small teal colored switch. and of all places I glued it under the dash plastic (left side of the cluster) used liquid electrical tape to waterproof it.
Now at night when they are on there is a very faint teal glow on the floor board. About the same amount of light as the lil map lights under a rear view mirror.
I'll get a pic up for you.
Love to see what your Z looks like as well.
Also, send a pic of it to Daryl Melnyk @ Alpena
I told him I was going to show their product on our forum and he was awesome to talk to.

It also looks like you have led bulbs in your projectors? What kind are they and did they fit insidw the housing without mods?
