My buggy is a 2014 built X&Y 600 UTV bought new in 2016. Around here all CF Moto engines are very hard shifting. This info is what I had to do to correct the problem. It shifted hard when new. I have 260 miles on it with a snow blade.

Page 91 shows shifting gears 4&5 got rusty and froze up. How did rust get in the closed cover...I don't understand. The teeth on those gears were fricken chewed up from the hard shifting. Number 4 steel gear rotates in bare aluminum engine case with no bushing which I think is the shifting drag....coated with cheap chinese axle grease that was so hard that the grease had to be chiseled out!!! I got new parts and put them. Engine is back in, but not have run it yet. It shifts fine with lever on side of engine.
