Hi folks, looking for a little help with a customers unit. I have the listed unit with only about 200 miles on it. Looks like brand new. Has been at another shop for a year and am trying to help them out at my shop. I have no service info on this but have a scan tool for the OBD connector and don't see any issue with the data stream I am seeing. Engine wont idle and seems to be running rich. Will rev and does give a slight puff of black smoke at rev up but not terrible. O2 is reading what looks to be good data. We are cycling between about .080mv and .850mv which seems normal. Only thing I see that looks odd is fuel trim numbers. With key on and not running the long term is at approx +15 and short term is at 0. As soon as it starts the long term goes to +14 and the short term starts to drop negative and the longer it runs and warms up the short term goes further negative to about -10 - -11. Long term never attempts to move more towards 0 even though the short term is pulling fuel away. It is hard to start and will not idle either warm or cold. Previous shop replaced the throttle body with both the MAP and TP sensors and replaced the fuel pump. We got all the original parts and have tried comparing some data between the old parts and new parts and all look the same so don't believe the issue is related to either. I did remove the EVAP canister to make sure fuel may not be getting introduced through it but had no effect. Removed the fuel injector from the engine and checked the spray pattern and made sure it is not leaking under pressure and no problem there either.
The reason it ended up in the shop to begin with was it got in some water and the starter was submerged and killed it. The new starter was installed and this problem was immediately present and been there ever since. No error codes present.
Happy to provide any data or readings for anyone who may have a manual or an idea what I need to check.
