NMK, haven't got out there yet but am looking forward to it. All I've done so far is Quartzsite and around Kingman, AZ.
Seems we don't spend too much time in NM as we do a lot of RVing and grandkid visiting :). Look forward to getting together for a ride though, hope to see you then.

Im at 230 miles and ready for first oil change. I want to go synthetic but feel its to soon. The book says 15-w40 sg.. I bought the filter but still up in the air for oil . Im in NH . Any suggestions guys, so i wont void my warranty .

If you don't want to run synthetic yet you don't have to. I would not use 15w-40 too thick when cold. I use Rotella T4 5w-40 (synthetic). I wouldn't use anything higher than 10w-40 personally.

Yeah you will be fine with a 5 or 10w40 and I would wait until closer to 500 miles for the synthetic. I used the Castrol conventional 10w40 until I switched to Castrol Power RS 10W40 at just under 500 miles.

I just drained the oil and was surprised at how dark and muddy it looked. Not what i expected from a new rig, that is for sure

Mine was starting to look ugly too on the first change..but I changed mine before 100 miles the first time. The second change at 250 looked pretty good, the third at 450 looked like new. I now have a little over a thousand miles on it..over 550 on this oil change...and it's with the synthetic, and it's just now getting enough color where I can see it on the stick. I may go a little more. I do have extensive air filtration and I believe that adds to the oil...and engine life.

FYI..a slipping wet clutch browns oil fast.

 If clutch is slipping the dealer can fix that under warranty i would think. I have 4 year warranty but hate to deadline moto till i have to..Thanks for the info
