Installed this over the summer.  Not really necessary, but I was always backing into trees and jacking up my rear fenders, so this helps.  They're actually really cheap components, too.  I think with the switch, the monitor, and the back-up camera I have about $40 into this.  Fun project.

The monitor is suctioned onto the dash, so it can be removed easy enough for cleaning.  I usually keep the pressure washer away from the dash anyway.  Rear monitor lights up when on.  Works pretty well.  At night, you're not going to see long distances, but in the daylight it's pretty decent.  Monitor does get static when going down the road at speeds, but it's tolerable.  I need to get in the dash and do some better wiring, but for now, it's on a live power so I can switch it on without the key.

Yeah that's cool. I have been wanting to do something like that ever sense one of our members mounted his flush-mount camera right in the CFM emblem. I always though I might mount it high...like up by my cargo/backup light so I could also get a better view of people behind me. My inside mirror is almost useless anyway. Might as well mount a display up there.

Thank you, too.  I like the idea of mounting it up by the cargo, and that never occurred to me.  Might make it a little easier to run the vid cable, too.

Yeah up high would be a little more protected. Just in case a bush sneaks up on you.

Cool.
I found it hard to look around when backing up on a SXS compared to how easy it is on a quad.  I mounted my backup cam screen in the upper left corner so water wouldn't be as likely to get to it, put the GPS and RAM mount for the phone up there too. The reverse light comes on when I put it in reverse, along with the backup light.

Not really an issue, on both counts.

The upper area is a good idea as well.  I have that storage bag up there, so I'd have to see if it didn't interfere with that.  May consider that if this doesn't work out.  I thought about trying to wire it to the reverse sensor (assuming there is one, never got that far), but I do like being able to turn the monitor on when I'm just going down the road.

I have the Bulletbusiness bag up there too, no interference issues at all. It doesn't use that whole triangular corner.
You can have both the backup cam come on when shifted into reverse and backup cam turn on with a switch. The blue/white wire from the rotary gear position switch applies - 12 volts from the motor/frame ground when you shift into reverse. I use that to operate a relay to apply +12 for activating the backup camera. You could do that and also add a switch that grounds blue/white and thus turns that camera on, whenever you want.
See what's going on behind you on the fly. :)
