Oil level on Dipstick?
« on: May 28, 2017, 02:38:35 AM »
Hey

I feel a bit stupid here, but how do you properly check the oil level with the dip stick? I unscrew the dip stick, wipe it off, and then what? Do I just put it back in the hole without screwing it down, or should it be completely tightened and then removed? The manual is not helping me at all.....

Your owners manual should tell you but on the 800s, you check it without screwing it back in.

Thanks for your reply. I have a Z6, and it is these words that are messing with me:

"5.Remove the dipstick from the left side.
Wipe it dry with a clean cloth.
6.Reinstall the dipstick completely, but do not lock it.
The dipstick must be inserted completely to keep the angle and
depth of the stick consistent."

I guess "do not lock it" means, "do not screw it back in".

Gees...nothing like being vague. Sounds like they want it screwed in but not tight. I would just do that and set the level to the top mark.
