Air Box issues
« on: July 31, 2017, 04:47:30 PM »
So I decided to perform routine maintenance while installing my winch and in doing so I removed the air box cover. The first thing I noticed was the 1/2 inch of oil in the bottom. This machine must need the warranty kit I've heard of. Thats fine, I'm sure my dealer will help me out plus I'm under warranty. What REALLY bothered me was the fact that my air box is warped to the point that I cannot correctly close it. I mean it doesn't line up at all, like the plastic has warped the point where it no longer will work.
It took 45 minutes to jerry-rig it so I can drive it onto a trailer and bring it to the dealer tomorrow. I'm so damned frustrated with the thing I could scream.
Has anyone else noticed Airbox issues?

I've heard about oil in there but not warping. Does it look like it's always been that way or did it melt? Can you post pictures

Yeah along with that hot engine oil comes hot engine gasses plus add the external heat from the engine. I'm sure all that heat on plastic would play hell on keeping it's intended shape.

I tried to grab a couple photos but because the frame and wiring and box being in such a tight space there was nothing to see. The best I can explain it is that the sides have warped inwards on the body of the box while the removable top has warped the opposite way, not allowing the two peices to seal correctly.

I'm not sure if was crammed on there poorly and that's why or if it's because of heat. I'll find out soon tho

Hi.
When i returnd my CF 520 from service i noticed that the upper case of airbox did not close in the back. i tryed to remount it but it was impossible. the mecaniker has mounted it wrong so it was warped. i heated it and tryed to get it right and finally it was there.
