valve adjust
« on: September 22, 2020, 09:52:15 AM »
So I've reached 16 hr's. on the new ride and did my second oil and filter (first at 5 hr's.), did the transmission and rear diff. fluids also.
I decided to do a valve adjustment check, glad I did, all valves were several thousands loose from nominal.
Machine is definitely quieter now.
All my oils seemed really clean, I cut the oil filter open and checked for shiny particles, thankfully nothing!
I'm using the same K&N filter I used in the past like I did on my Zforce 800.
Time to ride!

Yeah it's a good idea to at least check the valves within the first 300 miles. I checked mine at 200 and found all but one at the loose limit and one tight..which could mean a bad seat or particle intrusion damaging the seat. I also found one rocker roller seized so..it was good to check. Checked again at 500 miles and all was still in limits but set them center anyway. Checked again at 900 miles..no change so left them alone. At 1700 now and may check this winter but I'm sure all is well.
