During a trail ride yesterday, it feels like the backfires became common ... performance was good ... I just had alot of backfire when I would lift on the throtte or going down hills with the engine braking a bit ... I will inspect for exhaust loosness and other causes but wanted to put it out here .... spark plug is newish (last few months, less than 200 miles).

Air cleaner is a Uni that I regularly clean especially after a trail dusty ride .... thoughts?

One common issue is that the exhaust springs stretch and loose their tension allowing the joints to part and donuts/gaskets to break and come out. The cure is new gaskets and Moose exhaust springs. Measure the distance between the loops and subtract 20%. Order springs as close to that length as possible.

If you need them...and many times you don't, you will have to get them from any CFM parts house.
