This was discussed somewhere here sometime within the last year. I believe I chimed in with a solution depicted in the attached photo.

Decided to give it a try.

1/4 tempered glass held on with a bead of gutter silicone (clear). Tested it on rough ride. Hmmm....great.

Great idea...and if it ever breaks just clean off the RTV and slap on a new one.
