My brother in law took the z500 up the road for a run today, once back it ran at idle for about 5 minutes then quit. It will crank but will not start, no normal fuel pump sound before start up when cycling the key or the rocker kill switch. Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you checked the fuses? Loosen the gas cap and try it? Confirmed it still has fuel?

Kill switch. Although if it is at full pressure the pump won't be running. If after a few hours of sitting, hit the key. If no pump is heard start tracing it's power supply.

The problem was with the kill switch, he worked it back and forth several times thinking there was built up corrosion on the internal contacts and she started right up! It did this one time before when I still owned it. I never used the kill switch just the key to turn it off except that one time and it wouldn't start back. Shoddy electrical components I guess...jmo.

Yes..shoddy. None of the switches are water proof just resistant...somewhat.
