Whining Sound 4000-5000rpm Under Handlebars
« on: March 22, 2023, 06:01:24 PM »
I have a 2022 Cforce600 with under 100 miles on it and it makes an annoying and almost deafening whine between 4-5k rpms.  Above, no whine, below, no whine.  Just between 4 & 5k.   It has been doing this since I brought home fro the showroom.  It happens when in neutral or in forward or reverse.  IOW, all the time between 4 & 5k.  Took in for first service.  They said it was normal.  I asked to hear another one to confirm and of course they didn't have one.  Woods Powersports in New Braunfels TX.  They noted my complaint in the workorder in case something happens.  And the issue isn't as much if something happens, but not being able to enjoy the machine because of the whine.  Anybody hear of this?  Any ideas of what it could be so I can tell the idiots at the dealer?

Welcome. Most all CFMs do have more-then-normal amount of drive train whine and they do get worse the faster you go...and especially bad in low range. But yours is very specific to an RPM range and...it quits above 5K. That's..to say the least...strange. Hopefully someone will have an answer for you. My Z is so bad I have to wear a helmet or ear plugs..even after putting all kinda of sound deadener behind the cab plastics.
