RPM Question
« on: March 06, 2020, 07:43:37 AM »
I just bought a new 2019 CFMoto Cforce 600 touring. Just wondering about the rpm's. Seems like it runs at very high rpm's. Is this normal or is the CVT not working properly as you gather speed?

Well, flip the pod over to show RPMs and give us some numbers...like @ just taking off, @10mph, 20,30 50...ect. For someone not familier with CVT systems and that these new C600s not having a wet clutch, it may feel like high RPMs when its not really.

Thanks and I will do that. ATV is in storage right now, but it will do that in the near future. Hopefully it's not a problem. Only experience I have had is with a side X side Polaris 570 and it was totally different.
I know this is a different animal.

I just got a 2020 CForce 600 non touring and the RPM at any speed is higher than my 2019 CForce 500s.
My guess is it will either change after breaking it in or I'll just get used to it.

I got a new 2019 600 touring and I checked my rpms. Rpms stay around 5000-6000 at any speed . I would have thought it would be lower than that . My old atv didn`t have a tac ,but I seemed lower .

That's not right...something's wrong.

Just thinking about the rpm's on mine. Will be awhile before I can check mine out. If any of you have a thought on what the rpm's would be at different speeds I would appreciate knowing that.
Mine will get up and go, but seems like that I am always at a higher rpm. I am just not familiar with this machine and CVT operation.
Thanks

cvt's do works with "high" rpm. My guess is that the cvt would operata at a minimum of 4000rpm when you move at about 20-40km/h in high gear. (thats atleast whatb my 500s do) in about 60km/h i gues 6000rpm sounds normal.

Finally I got out and about to give some speed/rpm numbers.
11 mph - 4,300 rpm
13 mph - 4,500 rpm
16 mph - 4,650 rpm
18 mph - 4,800 rpm
20 mph - 4,850 rpm
22 mph - 5,000 rpm
30 mph - 5,500 rpm
35 mph - 6,000 rpm
Please let me know what you think about this.
My wife was taking these down as we rolled on. Sometimes a little variation, but the number are pretty close to true.
Machine performs well and the get up and go torque is super.
Ride and suspension are the best !
Thanks all of you for your help. I just need to know if all is ok. Love the machine !

To me, and JMO, the increments seem pretty close but overall it seems like it's about a thousand RPMs too high for...and speed. For example I would have thought 11mph would be in the 32-3300 rpm range not 4300. I'm not sure where the RPM limiter is set at but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere around 7400..and I would think the max speed should be at least in the mid to upper 50s. Then again it may well be fine for a 600 and that may be one way they got more out of this 600 over the old one. Just to be sure if it were mine I would pull the clutches and do a full cleaning and inspection. It acts like...at least to me...that it is either binding or someone has set the clocking to B2 or higher. Or there is an issue with the rollers. I may be full of it and its all good but never hurts to be sure.

NMKawierider I do appreciate what you said there.
It is new so I am reluctant to do any maintenance like you talked about at this time.
I have a 2019 CFMOTO, cforce, 600 tour.
I would like for another owner of such to compare before I do whatever.
Hopefully someone will reply.
Thanks for your input.

For anyone interested, I contacted CFMOTO. I gave them the rpms/speeds on my year/model and this is what they replied:

Thank you for contacting CFMOTO-USA:

First time owners of vehicles who are new to CVT clutch system operation commonly have this question. CVTs are designed to keep the engine in its powerband, so it’s normal to see RPMs in the manner that you’re describing. Low Gear versus High Gear also affects engine RPM and speed, as does carrying or pulling loads. Do not be afraid of the RPMs. The engine is designed for it.
