Condensation in 2021 600T Headlights?
« on: December 12, 2022, 04:12:02 PM »
I have 2021 600 Tour.  Ithas a whopping 32 miles on it now!  OK, but ir has about 30 hours of snowplow duty.  I already did 1st oil/filter change, got the zoomie air filter, check this and that, no complaints.  I made my own snowplow mount system.

Look here for my projects:

MY REAR RACK BUILD: https://cfmoto-forum.com/general-discussion/cforce-600-tour-rear-rack-extension/msg43530/#msg43530

Today was 28F-32F, 6"-7" heavy wet snow.  It was also semi-snow/rain while plowing the 300' driveway on my hill.

When I brought 600T inside garage, I noticed condensation in the front headlights, about an inch along bottom face of plastic lens.  The lights were only on the "eyebrow" setting.  This first time I have noticed condensation inside the lights.  All the lights work fine.
It was semi-rain and cold, just ordinary as far as a snow day is concerned.  The condensation did not appear in the previous 29 hours outside doing snowplow duty.  While I really wanted the 2-Up (legal) seating, the longer length is a PITA on turn-around-a-circle with added length of a snowplow.  I adapted to it, and finally figured out away to make the 600T work OK.

I have had the 600T for 14 months now.  I went downstairs 15 minutes after parking ATV to take photo and condensation gone.  It was on the lower part of both front lens.
Questions:

Has anyone had a similar instance of condensation?
Is this something to take to the dealer for warranty?

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.
YMMV

People with these and other machines have had this problem but the solution has been simple. These are sealed unit but with a vent tube. On the ZForces they put the vent tubed close to the radiator and two things happen. One as the lights are on the units get hot expanding the air inside and out that tube...as it should. But when on snow or rain..mostly snow..especially plowing, it blasts in and against the radiator and makes steam at the very same time it also hits the light lenses and quickly cools them..contracting the air and pulling in that steam from that radiator. It now had moisture inside and condenses. It will dry..eventually but the key thing to do is..MOVE the vent tubes away from any chance of getting any way vapor or steam. Easy. Nothing says you can get some extra tubing, connectors and a "T", connect then together and run it back up high some where..like under the seat. I ran mine back to over the dashboard. Stopped all my issues just getting them away from the radiator and all that steam.

I brought my 21 600T to the dealer for this same exact problem. Has been doing it since day 1.
CFMoto denied the warranty claim stating that the headlights are not sealed but rather vented and this is normal. Replacing the headlights with new ones apparently will make no difference.
