What is the deal with the checkered flags?  Is this some NV rule/law for off-road folks, or just for some specific areas?

A tall red flag is required here only in the St. Anthony sand dunes.  Elsewhere, not needed.

I am always critical of (any) government agency that figures some new way to tax/get $$ out of folks. JMO

YMMV

I have to ask...did you run a generator for all the hours it took the crock pot to cook that?

Yeah, I was wondering about that also.  Electric cord looks real "woodsy - outdoorsey".  Nice pile of pallets, PITA to haul anywhere.

I am working on solar panels, controller,  3 batteries.etc to convert a 7' x 14' cargo trailer to camper/ATV hauler.

I have converter to go 120v>> 12 volts, and a smaller 600w inverter >>> 120 volts (out in boonies).  I can run a few things like a laptop or small TV off of the inverter (but not BOTH at the same time).  I have a microwave in the camper but it is ONLY for SHore Power, it far exceeds it 1000w rating, needing 1400-1500w to start up.

Nearly ANY kitchen gadget is a power hog and I refuse to get a generator and its assorted noise & fuel storage problems.

YMMV

I had a couple of generators in the past that drove me...and everyone else crazy with noise. Last year I bought this Westinghouse igen 2500. It's super quiet and can run my microwave or my A/C (not at the same time) on my camper. Did put a soft-start kit on the AC though. It also fits and stores in the front compartment. One tank lasts about over 8 hours so that's more then double what we need for a week's trip. Not bad. The only thing I did to it was swap-out the double 15-amp 110 receptacle for a single 20 amp 110 receptacle . Wish it had a remote though...lol.

For the crock pot i did run the generator for 10 hrs. I have two Honda EU 2000 generators in parallel so i could run the A/C if needed. I am working on this camper to get it to be able to dry camp without generator other than long cooking and the microwave... two 100 watt solar panels on the roof and just now getting the second deep cycle battery and battery case installed and wired (this weekend I hope) once I get to it.
As for the flags on quads Nevada does not have a requirement for them but coral pink sand dunes in Utah does as does Dumont dunes does and these quads do get to the dunes a couple times each year.. Also for desert riding I find it much easier to see if riders are still following me or if I am still following others... and I can see them better then they and everyone else can see me! My biggest fear out on the trails anymore is a head on crash with a Side x side .....

I understand about fear of head-on crash.  Personally, I don't race around at high speeds in forest/mountain roads.  Yes the AVT or UTV is fun, but I consider it a tool to be out in the wilderness.  Speed is OK if you have a long view, like Shafer Trail in Canyonlands or similar places.  Common sense perhaps?

By the way. if you want to run a laptop or something like that from an Inverter, you will need a Pure-Sign" Inverter.  The cheaper inverters are modified sine-wave which is very different from a pure-sine-wave.  A laptop's internal clock cannot deal with modified sine wave.  It may fry your laptop.

Pure-Sine wave inverters generally cost a  lot more than the cheapos.  That is why I limited to 600 watts, enough for laptop.

If camping "companion(s)" don't like living without AC or Microwave or CrockPot or electric coffee-maker, well TS.  It's camping after all, accept it.  No 5-star hotels needed.  JMO
