Last ride of the season, first ride of 2026
« on: January 05, 2026, 07:57:43 AM »
Got out for a ride on New Years Day, solo ride. It was a drizzly / misty ride most of the day. I did put my rain gear on this time. It wasn't overly cold and didn't snow, which I expected it to be doing that at some point. The animals were somewhat cooperative on this ride, I saw some deer and one elk, the bull elk was in an area that I have never seen any deer or elk before. It was a nice ride, covered just under 70 miles. The weather started to break in the afternoon, but the clearing only lasted about an hour and never got clear enough for me to take the rain gear off. Now the gates will be closed until April here, so no more rides until the new season. I hope to be able to get the skid plates off both the CF Moto and the RZR and get them cleaned up and serviced. I'm going to try NMKawierider's suggestion of putting some heater hose around some of the sections of frame and hopefully allow me to clean them a little easier, but skid plates tend to trap mud and debris. Anyway, here are some photos from the ride.

The pond is still frozen, but had standing water on top of the ice today.

I'm amused by little things, like the red tips on the leaves of the weed.

You never know what you will run across out here, a broken bathroom sink.

I think it's amazing how you get to see so many animals on your rides.

It surprises me too, now I'm disappointed if I don't get to see some. We need some snow in the mountains though, I was hoping we would get some over the holidays, now they are saying a chance of snow later this week.

Hopefully we will get at least the average amount. Some extra would be nice.

We got some, but not what was expected out of the storm. So that was a little disappointing.
