Final ride of the year
« on: December 31, 2023, 04:35:15 PM »
Got to go out one more time this year, solo ride in the Jemez.  Got stuck and had to use the winch within the 1st hour of riding. Wasn't a horrible stuck, just too steep for the machine to get traction coming out of a dip.  Oh well, the winch worked well.  I'm really amazed at how quiet the winch is, but as long as it works.  No wildlife cooperated for me to see or get any photos except a lone wild horse.  Was a nice day, started out at a about 14 degrees, but ended up nice during the day in the sunshine.  Later in the evening it was cold again.  Spent the whole day out and covered about 65 miles according to the GPS.  First time I've run it that low on fuel (2 bars), filled it up and it averaged about 15mpg.  Odometer said I covered about 80 miles, but there was a fair amount of wheel spinning while going through snow.

Looks like a great ride to enjoy the hills, forest and snow. Just one question: where's the Snowman?? 60-80 miles is a very good day. Congrats!

Thanks, it was a good ride.  There were two snowmen that were built off the side of the road, but I did not take a photo of them.  Probably should have.
