LOUD TRANSMISSION, I THINK
« on: August 22, 2018, 03:59:04 PM »
I have had my 2015 Uforce 800 for about 2-1/2 years, the transmission gets really screechy at higher speeds pretty much unbearable, any suggestions on how to quiet it down?
It also screeches when you decelerate.

More often that noise is drive train...and usually it's the rear gearcase or as some call it- "rear diff"...although there are no axle speed differentiating gear sets in it like the front. Mine is slowly grinding it way to the junk yard with aluminum case particles building up in the oil making me change it every 300 miles or so. It's also getting more and more backlash or play on the pinion shaft..making more and more clunking on excell and decells. And yes..the whining is getting louder too. One day..it will go.. I would love to go with someone else's unit but the front and back gear ratios must match so..I'm stuck with getting another one.

If not already try going with a full synthetic 80/90w gear lube in it and a 70/80w in the front.

Don't get me wrong...it may well be the transmission..heaven knows they all loose as hell with something less then premium parts. Make sure you are running a premium-grade motorcycle oil cause shared-sump engines are hard on average oil. It had to be a high RPM, high temp gasoline engine oil AND, be a damn good gear lube as well at those high temps. Some oils.. just fall short. When I switched to Castrol Power RS there was a noticeable difference in noise and easier shifting so I know it was lubing better then what it had before.

NMK why not try 75-140 gear lube in the back if its getting worn out and has play? Thicker might help in your situation.

Well REDRIDER I decided to change it again even though it has only about 50 miles on it and it was already full of metal both in the oil and on the plug. And I did pickup some 85/140w while at WalMart to put in it the other day so..we'll see. You can really here it these days in my videos and the left axle is starting to show some movement at the case. Got one more big ride this year in a week..hope it makes it.

I have a 2018 Uforce 800 with about 390km on it.   The tranny or ? is whining like an old International Corn Husker.

Just came from a hunting weekend and my partner, who was a mile or so away could hear the whining, but not the exhaust note!  Ya think rear diff too?  Hard to tell where its coming from....

Guess I will start by pulling the rear diff plug?   Sposed to be a 5 year warranty, will they cover this kind of crap?   I also have the annoying bucking on take off, and reading here some say ECM swap??

mine whines but I don't think it is in the diff. If I am in high range the whine is loudest at around 40-45mph and on the trail at 20-25 it is there but not as loud. Now if I am in low range at 20mph it is about the same as it is in high range at 45mph. I think mine at least is in the transmission. I am wondering if they used straight cut gears rather than helical as those will for sure whine more, like reverse gear in your car.

Why isn't your case issue being looked at and replace under warranty??

What warranty? There's only a year here is the US and it's 2015.

Oh, hmmm, I've looking on the website and it said 5 years ( www.cfmoto.ca ) and I saw a CFMOTO video made by them advertising they used BOSH EFI fuel management, in the website it say DELPHI !! What are the cutting out what good parts they had. Maybe why all the fuel related posts I've read are there.

My 2015 has the Delphi system but the newer ones have the bosh. Again, no 5 year warranty in the US. Never did. Canada has always had it I believe.

I have a 2018 U Force 800 and the heat from the engine area radiating through the console is unbearable. Can't hardly even touch it. Any suggestions?

The UFs and ZFs are built a little differently but there may well be enough similarities these suggestion may help. My Z was like yours with heat...unbearable.. especially after the installation of the windshields and doors. To start, most of my heat was coming from the radiator, flowing back, up, over and around the firewall between the it and the dash, and into the cab. I cut long sections of 3"x3" memory foam from an old mattress topper I had and had to stuff it all across the top and down each side to the lower parts of the fenders to stop that flow. Then it was coming in around the steering linkage hole so I made a 3-sided deflector to partly cover it..fixed 90% of that. Then it was also flowing into the console and between the it and the heat from the engine on the other end, you could feel it flowing through every hole...so I installed stick-on heat barrier where I could, plugged the seat belt holes with more chunks of memory foam and installed a boot on the e-Brake. All that along with plugging a few more holes stopped about 95% of the cab heat issues. And if I want a little heat in winter, all I need to do is remove the top part of the firewall sealing foam. Good luck with yours.

Make sure it's not the exahoust heat plates that makes the noise. Have experience of them rattling and making all kinds of wierd noises. On my dads c force 800 it sounded  likea real high "wining sound" almoust from the begining and his dealer said it was the cvt. later it changed the tone and almoust dissepeared and all of a sudden in a mud hole it sounded like something was about do brake badly and toke the side panels of and appllied some preasure to the heat protection plates and the noise disepeared. He bended on of the plates slightly and now the sound diesepeared and has been gone for a while.

Same on my 520/500s i have been thinking a few times something is wrong with the cvt but then it turns out a exahoust shield screw has un scrfewed it's slef and the shiled is making a terrible noise at a certain rpm so usualy you think it's comming on at an specefic speed.
