Backfires

Went for an expedition the other day, lot of hill climbing. During the trip I had 6 to 7 small backfires while engine braking. No big deal, they weren't that bad. Just never had the other utv's do it before. Someone mentioned that they tend to run these incredibly lean. Are backfires something to be concerned about?
Had a 2017 Zforce 800EX, traded to a 2020 Uforce 800

Nine times out of ten backfiring through the exhaust while on decell. is caused by a leaking exhaust seal somewhere. Lots of times it's because the springs on the flex joints didn't do their job and that donut seal is now leaking or out of alignment. Rare but also the pipe-to-head gasket can also be blown or leaking.
