Airbox removal caution
« on: April 22, 2018, 01:07:41 AM »
Feeling ambitious, I decided to remove and clean out the air box while doing filter maintenance. Watch out for the 3 bolts that attach to thread inserts, the inserts fall right out the bottom when you remove the bolts. You better have a third hand under it when removing the bolts, then silicone or tape in place for re-installation. Lost one in the dark space known as the underbelly. Also, the vent tube clamp will slide down the hose and if you are lucky you can retrieve it. I slid it UP and held on to it then removed it instead of down so it wouldn't get lost.

**Speaking of that vent tube into the air box, do some move that out of there and run it up higher with maybe a small filter on it, or does it require the vacuum in the air box to vent properly, or is that some kind of emissions crap? There was about 1/2 inch of oil in that little catch basin nub in the bottom of the air box.

Also some pics of the insulation which reduces heat, dust, and noise by 75% easily. Also did under the air box console cover and around it, the e-brake slot, under the seats attaching to the rear window curtain sealing that open hole off, and the front of the bed facing the cab and under the bed.
