Hi all,

UForce 800 (2021) user here from Australia.
Bought a U800 for prospecting for gold and after only 60 kilometres has developed a problem.
Started off as an intermittent fault where it would not start (or turn over) fuel pump would come on and get pressure.
Now its full time not working.
All relays good.
All fuses good.
shows a code on blinking dash light of "P0230 FPR Coil Circuit Low Voltage or Open FPR-Fuel Pump Relay"
Fuel pump operates when key is turned on.
Do any of the CFMoto experts on here have any ideas?

Not saying this is it.. but many hundreds of CFMs came from the factory with faulty main fuse holders...not the fuse, but some bad crimp connections inside the holder that developed into cold-connections that with the added resistance, caused not only the low voltage error codes but so much resistance that there wasn't enough to even engage the starter solenoid...not even the proverbial "click". Something to check while checking all the battery cables and load test the battery...yeah there have been some bad batteries too.

Will check this morning, battery tests OK, will have a look at fuse holder.

Well, pulled it all apart, could not find any obvious bad connection.
Put it back together and it worked fine, for two days!
Same problem, same fault code.
Bit over it, such a cramped little machine to work on and all those plastic clips give me the >>>>.

My guess is a power drain while trying to start is what triggered the code.

I would monitor the voltage during the starting process, and check the amp draw of the starter.

Does the engine turn over quickly when it turns over?

What have you checked when it would not turn over? How did this problem get resolved?

Does not appear to be a power drain on start, No power to starter motor or solenoid when playing up.
Seems to be constant power to solenoid trigger but not completing circuit when the condition is there.
Can always start by bridging solenoid.
Don't think problem is with solenoid either but whatever earths the trigger?

You can apply voltage to the trigger post on the solenoid to test the solenoid. Then you will know if the problem is upstream or downstream from the trigger.

It is getting a good 12.8v to the positive side of the trigger, but does not appear to earth through the other side of trigger. Do you know where this wire goes to?? Appears to enter loom back to ECU??
Seems to be a constant 12v to trigger and switching on Earth???
Also can't figure out why showing a 0230 code which I believe is Fuel Pump Relay ?

On the Zs, the key switch in the starter position closes the Aux Starter relay #1 and sends power to the starter solenoid through the Y/R(Yellow/Red) trigger wire. The starter solenoid gets it's coil ground through the purple wire to a normally closed contact on the Aux Starter Relay #2. Now if..some conditions exist, it won't get that ground...nor will the fuel pump relay. For the Zs this could be a bad kill switch, the gear selector not in either neutral or park bit in H,L or R without the brake being on enough to power a brake light.
With no working solenoid and a code that says the coil on the fuel pump relay is low or no power when the ECU things it should, this tells me there is either an Aux Starter relay #2 problem, or an interlock relay problem. A wiring diagram would be most helpful to you.   

It's a 4 pole relay.

Battery/Positive (left), S pole (left), G pole (right), and starter/out (right).
None of the poles have continuity to ground.

On my Z8 (2017), the Yellow/Red (Signal) wire is the trigger from the ignition switch, connected to the S pole.  The Purple wire is the ground for the G pole.

The purple wire shows high (not 100%) continuity to ground when the ignition switch is off.

The Yellow/Red wire shows voltage when ignition switch is in START position.

With the ignition switch off, you should be able to remove the signal wire from the relay, and apply voltage to it from the Battery pole side.  The starter should spin. If it doesn't, ground the G pole and try again.  If it spins, then one of the relays that helps the ground circuit is opened. On the Z, this would be the Auxiliary starter relay #2. Relay #2 is normally closed. The ECU controls this relay, and will open it when it doesn't want the starter to operate (like if you are in gear and your foot is not on the brake).

Of course, your Uforce may have a different wiring arrangement, but perhaps some of this can be found useful.
