« on: July 01, 2017, 06:07:13 PM »
I need to replace the battery on my U800.  I know it's 12V 30Ah, per manual, but are some makes better than others?

It's been hit or miss for me. Wal-Mart batteries have been the worst. Yusa have been ok but I habe had some of the off brand ones last too.  Some have a year warranty on them. If they are not far for you to send back, might be ok. I find if they last a year, they will make the distance.

I have had good luck with the Shorai Lithium-Ion battery in my Brute. I think because with no lead or acid it doesn't have anything to slosh around off-road or parts to take a beating. But...they don't give those away. I think one for these would run in the 220 range. Paid 170 for the one in my Brute like 5 years ago. Still spins the starter like it's hooked up to ..way more then 12 volts. :) You do have to be careful  when charging them or maintaining them.

Thanks for the input.  I looked at a lithium battery as well, but the charger I have would not work with it, so that was a no go.
I ordered a Scorpion AGM for $95 shipped.  It gets pretty hot here in Texas, so I'm hoping the AGM will hold up better than the wet cell.
