Very Noisy Belt and Engine Idle
« on: April 02, 2023, 07:27:34 AM »
Hi all, Im new to the Forum  Just picked up a new 2023 UF1000.

Seems like a beast.  Couple of questions - on acceleration and deceleration, there is a very loud winding noise - sounds like a transmission belt?!?  Is this because its new and needs to break in?   or will I need to live with this noise forever?

Also the engine idles very rough, again maybe just the break-in period?

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Welcome to the group. These as in many brands have pretty noisy drive trains and they are most noisy when brand new. As the rings and pinions...and the transmission gears break in they will get a little quieter. If they get louder or play develops..or some strange noises start happening, take it in. When you can go to a synthetic gear lube after the first couple of oil changes you should notice some reduction as well.

Excellent!  thank you for the advice.  i have been keeping it in "work" mode as it seems a little quieter that way.  i do hope it settles down, really annoying at low speeds.   fingers crossed!

I have both symptoms I am unsure if it's a problem or just how it is. The drive belt whine is very loud until I hit 10mph +/- I am not familiar with the machine yet but it seems like the belt has to hit a second clutch second gear second bearing it's very odd but it's my first belt-driven machine.

The belts themselves aren't usually the source for a whine unless there is an alignment problem. More often drive train whine come from straight cut transmission gears, drive line components or gear case/differential parts like the ring and pinion....or some from all the forenamed combined.
