Just about have 500 Kms on mine
« on: August 28, 2019, 03:00:58 PM »
I loved my UForce 800 for 3 years and when it came time for an upgrade I knew that I would get the 3 seater Uforce 1000.

I don't have a lot of time on it yet as I mentioned it almost has 500 km on it so far. The longer wheelbase, power steering, and larger tires are a really nice upgrade from my 800, oh and the power, but I do still have a few things that they could improve upon.

Lots of dust comes in from the back when traveling on dusty roads, even though I have front and rear windows.

They have really big fender flares to prevent the mud from getting on the bike and the rider, but my 2nd ride out I was going over a stump and it partially ripped one off. I have since removed them.

When you hit water going too fast or deep it comes in from a seam where the 2 pieces connect and it lands right on top of your foot if it's on the gas.

They say in the spec's it has almost 12" of clearance, I have a hard time to see more than 10" so a bit low for some of the trails I go through.

I know that I can fix most everything on this list, so not the end of the world.

Things I love about this bike:

The turning radius is unreal

The suspension is soft and responsive

The bench seat is way comfier than the 800 hard plastic seats.

The dustproof dash is truly dustproof

The front 2" receiver

The under-seat storage is awesome and also dustproof and waterproof (as far as I can tell)

Again like I said almost 500 km on it so far so I'm sure things will come up for pros and cons, feel free to ask me any questions.

I also have a Uforce 1000.   I notice some chattering noise in the front end when in 2 wheel drive at higher speeds.   If the vehicle is in 4x4 there is no noise.   Do you notice this issue?

My uforce 1000 has chattering noise also. I heard they were noisy in the front end . My charging system is not working either. need to figure that out. repaired the steering column when a bolt fell out and I found out it was stripped. lots of loose nuts and bolt 500 miles on machine. still like it

I noticed the tailgate had a little play in it and would cause a rattling noise I put some foam tape in between it so now it's a tighter fit and now the noise is gone.

I have a 2019 uforce 1000.  I juat got it and put 17 miles on it so far and the check engine light came on.  Fluids are all ok, fuses are all ok, and its not the gas cap.  Anyone have this issue before?  Also, when i check the oil, there seems to be alot of pressure being released as i unscrew the dipstick.  Never had that happen on any other vehicle, whats everyones thoughts?  Thanks!

You aren't trying to check the oil while it's running....are you? The MIL light is on because of some error. Probably just a sensor or connection somewhere. I would take it in.

No I'm not checking the oil when its running. I do maintenance and repairs on all types of machinery on our dairy farm, so I'm familiar with all of that.  Dealer is going to check it out.  This machine was in a crate until I bought it last week, and the roof has a bow in it and it vibrates on the overhead crossbar.  It also had a bad "shake" to it when on a road, almost like a flat spot on a tire kind of feeling.  Not sure if its something with the machine or if the 1.5'' wheel spacers are causing it?  Hopefully they can check that out also.  Aaaannnddd, the machine wont start sometimes, just keeps cranking over.  At 6 hours/17 miles I'm really wondering if I made a good decision.  I guess time will tell.

Are the throttles really touchy on these?  To me, it seems like the clutches aren't tuned right.  Seems like when they hit, they hit real hard and want to jerk the machine, especially in reverse.  Theres no feathering into getting going.  Just wondering if this is normal or not for everyone else.  I'm comparing this to a Can Am defender.

Probably just has a kinked crankcase breather. I think I would have that clutch looked at while in. Should work smoother then that.

Yeah I'm going to have my dealer look at everything. Theres no way the engineers would let a machine operate like mine from factory and call it good. Hopefully it doesn't cost me anything.  But even with the issues, I still like these machines especially for the price of them.  These 1000's are beasts of machines!

Keep us posted on the touchy throttle. Mine also has about 17 miles on it and the dealer told me the drive by wire throttle on this machine is NOT adjustable. Letting off the throttle at speed is fine, but while going slow it’s just awful In either low or high (or reverse). You have to slowly let off or it bucks like a bronco.  As I get used to it it’s becoming easier to control but it does not operate like other machines I’ve driven. Backing or pulling it into a tight spot in the barn was not easy at first. Still not “easy” but I am getting better at controlling it.

The ZForce 1000 still uses a cable operated throttle so wouldn't the same be true for the UForce 1000? I think..JMO.. your dealer may be mistaken. This is straight out of the ZForce 1000 service manual. Anyone have a UForce 1000 service manual?

Ill give updates once the dealer checks everything out.  Going to be a couple weeks since rifle season just started here in PA.  It'll go to the dealer after that.  I was told by the dealer as long as its running ok, I can keep running it with the check engine light on.

Just wanted to check in, I didn't forget about posting with my issues.  Machine is at the dealer still.  They haven't been able to figure out why the check engine light comes on and off, they are contacting cf moto to see what they should do.  I post when the problem is either fixed or not

It's difficult to drive that jumpy throttle, I'm not familiar with the UF1000 I have been around the ZF1000 & it is jumpy. I do remember Can Am addressing this & what they did was retard the ignition & roll it back in. It's a very different feel, you don't get that initial lunge & lurch & then lays down. The unit just keeps pulling harder & harder as the timing start to advance. Some did not like that as they wanted the bump when trying to climb a log, climbing a bank etc.

That doesn't help with the UF1000 lung & lurch, it maybe worth while to have a look @ the primary clutch. Sometimes there is an bit of an engagement bump that can be modified to smooth out the initial hit. Softer engagement rate of the drive spring may help as well.
ZF 800 LX Trail, stock for now.......not for long.
