3700 miles on mine now, thermo switch failed at 3500 miles

Third Thermo switch under 500 miles.  Luckily dealer sent to my house, easy switch out. Fan over ride switch came in and getting ready to install.  Maybe running it manually some times will extend the life of this one.

You know...that thermo switch just sends power to a relay...and if that relay's coil is bad and is using more power then it should, it will overload those thermo switches and take them out pretty fast. With your history with switches, I think I might just change out the fan relay for G.P...and soon.

No big deal. Put a new one in and have a spare. I also wired in a manual override.

Glad I have an override installed already as I'm about 830 miles now. I really think some of these fan relay coils are pulling more power then they should be. This is a ridicules number of failing thermos switches..

Damn, what can possibly be the issue with these things? I mean they don't use a lot of voltage, none of the parts are exposed to the elements.  I have my old one still and am planning on opening it up (somehow) I know how it works , I just want to see inside for myself.  Maybe it will shed some light on the problem.

Yeah I have a How To in the How To section.

Bought it used for $5000.00 fan thermo switch stopped working so I installed a by pass manual switch.Font wheel drive actuator had to be replaced.Still a great machine for the money.

I have a X8  12000 miles , recently rear diff casing where the bolt holds to frame snapped off , I have been unable to locate a diff for it , if any one can help let me know , its a 2012  X8 

Can it not be re-welded?

Look up a product called Lab Metal. It may help you fix it.
