I really would love to buy 2 cfmotos, maybe a 500 trail and an 800 trail. I just worry that I am not all that good at fixing this kind of stuff. I can build a computer anyday, but engines, i am not inclined in that area. Are there a lot of youtube videos and guides to fixing these machines? or should I stay away from the cfmoto brand?

Most of what you may find with these are things most people can do themselves. Engines and drivetrain components are more complicated but that's true with any brand. With a little guidance, a good service manual and some basic small tools you will be fine. One of the big things with these...and others is common sense in use and proper maintenance. One other big plus is having a good dealer too.

This day in age it's probably not a bad idea...for any brand. :)

Any brand will come down to dealer & manufacturer support, I think you should research that rather than the brand.

Take it past the polished skillful sales rep ask to see the shop  :)

If price is your guide then........ the ending may not be a happy one  ;)

or should I stay away from the cfmoto brand?

I've yet to find an owner of any brand that hasn't had to fix one thing or another so this isn't a CFMoto thing. I've seen more issues with Polaris by a country mile than anything else, but then they are by far and away the most popular brand so it's to be expected.

If repair issues is the main concern, the advice to find a good dealer and good manufacture support is pretty solid. Just be prepared to spend a lot more up front, and get less for it, if you go with another brand.

I would personally recommend test driving all of them first. Each manufacturer has pros and cons. Don't buy the sales hype. You have to be able to do a serious test drive; no futzing around a parking lot. You need to be able to jump on the gas and get up to speed, climb and descend steep hills, and take sharp corners to really get a feel for the machine. Some are noisey (CFMoto), some have skitchy AWD systems (Polaris), some have much better engine breaking than others (CFmoto), etc.

Get on the forums of the other manufactures, ignore the "we are the best" posts, and read up on the problems they have had (and they will all have problems).

Most CFMotos have been fine, and you get the benefit of money left in the wallet ;-)

Good luck!
