The 500s are a lot better today then they started out to be but I'm still not convinced mostly because of some reports still coming in. I know others will say there's are perfect and not to worry about it and probably depending on your application they may be right. Still..JMO, pay the little extra for the 800. Still not perfect by any means but the less you stress an Chinese engine.. the longer it will last.. IMO  :)

you have to remember that a vast majority of these reports are user induced...

You aren't convinced? Whats your firsthand experience? i'm not being snarky, just curious what you have experienced yourself that makes you believe the machine is not adequate

I think its funny how you always make extra sure to give the disclaimer not to stress the "chinese" engine... like its somehow different than "american" engines built with Asia sourced parts.

The 17's suffered from the crankcase venting issue... thats a thing of the past and was remedied via warranty bulletin at no cost to customers. Some machines needed the bulletin completed for the stabilization of the head (mind you a bulletin that addressed the POTENTIAL of an issue and no reports of said issue ever happening). NONE of these situations apply to a 2019 machine.. Not really specific to the 500S, but the ATV line in general, that people had issues with needing to push the foot brake down so hard to release the shifter lock out... the 2019 does not have the shifter lockout (it can be easily removed from any machine if its giving your trouble)

When you are plowing, run in low. If you are plowing into a pile, let off the throttle right before you hit the pile and don't try and force the machine into the pile ones its stopped, you will load the transmission and have a bear of a time getting it out of gear and thats how people break stuff.

Also keep in mind that the CFORCE 500HO, CFORCE 500S, CFORCE 400 and the new CFORCE 600 all share the same basic engine design...

Your right, because I don't have actual experience with these I withdraw my post and comments. Without actually owning one I wouldn't be qualified to comment on one. It may well be everything one would want or need.

NMK is correct. I had a Cforce 500 and i was not really impressed with it for ride and power and handling. I upgraded to a Cforce 800 and what a difference. The 800 rides better, more power and handles allot better. My wife drove the 500 once and wouldn't drive it again. Now that I have the 800 she wants to drive it all the time, she loves it. With my experience with the 500 and 800 I highly recommend the 800. It's very well worth the difference. My 500 was a 2013 and I traded it in with 300 miles and I had a few issues with the ECU. My 800 is a 2014 and i have 2600 miles on. The only  issue I had to date was a speed censor. I love the 800 and will go with one again. I know other people with the 500 and they like it.

I hope this doesn't come off as me defending my rig, but the blatant mis-information is hard to ignore.

In 2014 the CFORCE 800 was the latest and greatest, your 2013 at the time was "old news". The comparison couldn't be any more skewed. The 500S that the original poster is referring to couldn't possibly be MORE different than the 500 in which you are referring to. To list the differences would be a waste of time as there is literally nothing similar between your, at the time outdated 2013, and the 2019 the OP is inquiring about.

I have a 500s(520 they called in sweden) The problems i had taht are tha machines faoult is the cam shain tensioner gave upp once (covered by warrianty) and some bad brake lines. the brake lines problem are fixed on some 17 machines and fixxed on all mchines that are 18 or newer. Then i caused the ball joints in the front to go bad but thats more related to me driving in realy rock terrian. And thr rear wheele bearings. The engine runs ood after almoust 20000 km and around 700 h and i givi it full trotle when i want.

I removed the shifter lockout and it improves shifting a loot.

The crank case went problem does not apply on 17 machines in sweden. it applies to 16 and maybe 15 machines.

I have changed my front shocks to bronco shocks and it improves the machine will cgange the rear some thime to.

I think its a good machine for the price sure not as comfortable as other more expe sive atv's but ok for the price. I would recomend it for your use.

I purchased a 2019 CF 500s about 3 weeks ago and have put 120 miles on it so far.  I traded a 2012 Kymco 450 Maxxer for it, it was great machine and never had any problems but it was 7 years old.  My impressions so far on the 500s is that the fit and finish is top notch, all of the welds look good and solid. I love the EPS and the winch is a great addition not to mention the built in 12v power port and twin USB ports.  The motor is just a tad sluggish for a 498cc engine in my opinion as compared to the former 450i Kymco and I also have a 2015 Polaris 570 Sportsman.  My only issue is that my gas gauge is inaccurate, it reads empty well before the tank is empty.  Beyond that it runs great, the ride is fine for me and the shocks also have an adjustable preload.  I am quite happy so far. But if you do decide on one be sure check the front skid plate as the two front mounting bolts were missing on mine, a cheap $1.50 fix.

.  My bolts were also not in skid plate but they were in a small bag with owners manual and tool kit.

It's too bad they didn't install the bolts. It's a very minor issue in my book.  I just want to make other 500s owners aware so they don't rip the front skid plate off.  The only tool I got was a pencil air pressure gauge.

I have the 2019 500s, 400 miles of trail riding so far. I have no need for a snow plow in my area. It's been a great machine!
