Buying a ZForce 1000, have some questions.
« on: March 19, 2019, 10:57:34 AM »
Hi all!  I'm new to CFMoto but I've been doing a ton of research on them over the last few months and am just about ready to pull the trigger on a 2018 ZForce 1000 but I have some questions, mainly about accessories.  I am in Canada, and can currently get the machine itself for $14999CAD (new, leftover), which is what the 800s were before this sale.  Do these not come from factory with a roof?  I thought they did and I feel like the dealer may be using this as a bargaining tool.  They also come with 4 point harnesses up here, while I've seen many z1000s with shoulder belts so I assume that's a Canada thing too like the turn signals.  No wireless winch remote, but I guess that's just a UForce thing?  Not a dealbreaker but I wouldn't mind one.

I want to add front and rear bumpers, rock sliders, a half windshield, and maybe a light bar (and the roof of course).  How much should I be paying for all this in your opinion?  I can't find definite prices on the OEM accessories as CFMoto Canada's site won't list them.  Also, I mentioned the air filter issues I've seen in my searching, but he said they're now a washable/oilable filter and no longer an issue.  Is that true on the 2018 1000's, or should I still push for a better filter?

I also asked about doing my own services and how that would affect warranty, he suggested they at least do the first one after ~350km to check everything over, but after that I could do them.  He told me they sell a service kit for about $80 which includes oil, filter, etc.  I could surely get everything cheaper elsewhere, but this way they have a solid record of me doing the services at least.

Thanks for any info, I want to join the CFMoto family but I want to ensure I get the best deal I can! These things are gorgeous and by far the best looking of all of them imo!

Welcome. I can't speak for the Canada sales but here in the US all Zs come with the roofs and all the features listed in the brochure. I sure wouldn't take possession of one without all that it should have on it..plus something tossed in for the sake of the deal...like the 1/2 shield. The 1000 is the best of the Z Forces so far with little complaints or issues reported. And YES, you will want to replace that foam CFM filter with a Unifilter before your first ride. Here is that feature list:

It's somewhat confusing to me, some places I see the roof included, some I don't.  Some places have said that only the 1000's get the doors, while others show the 800's with them as well.  Same with the harness vs shoulder belts, I've seen both on the Z's.  I think I'd rather have shoulder belts but I'll see how the harnesses work out.  Why can't they just have all this stuff standardized, at least in North America if not everywhere?  Turn signals, doors, belts, roofs, even colours, all variables I've seen which claim they're included, but seem to be offered randomly.  The red one I'm looking at has really nice colour matched black/red seats that none of the others do, but I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere.  Hell, even CFMoto Canada's site shows pictures of the 1000's in their 2018 brochure with roofs, but no doors, while the feature list to the right of the page lists doors, but no roof.

I'm not one to complain, I'm just trying to make sure I get a good but fair deal here.  I'm coming from a tired (but reliable) 17 year old Polaris Magnum 325, so I am beyond pumped to jump into one of these things!

That's good to know about the filter too, thanks for that!  I will make sure it is changed out. I believe I found a part number somewhere and made note of it, I'll have to see if I still have it.  Do you know where I could find a rough price guide on the other accessories?  He did give me a price of like $300 for a light bar which is more than I'd expect to pay, but no word on everything else yet.  Thanks NMK!

Might check with either Alpha-Sports.com or CFMoto parts.com on parts and accessories. I know for 2019 all the Zs now come with the same doors and at least down here only the U-Forces don't come with roofs. I would insist yours come with it...along with all the rest of the standard listed features...even if it raises the price a hair.

Thanks, I'll definitely be getting a roof on it, I just didn't want to be including it in the extra cost of accessories if it's already a standard feature.  Maybe it isn't up here, I'm not 100% sure, but I definitely thought it was.  I didn't realize there were so many variations on them, and I've watched countless videos, reviews, etc so I don't know what ones were from Canada and what were from elsewhere.

I'm gonna see what I can do to sweeten the deal a bit, but I've never purchased a brand new atv/sled/etc before so I don't know what to realistically expect.  Just a good deal on the accessories, or do I try to get say helmets thrown in on the deal or free first service or maybe something else, or what?  Sorry for all the questions, once I have one and get to know it, I'll do what I can to answer some as well!

Well, you tell them what you expect and want for the money..then let them come back with what they can actually do. They won't take a loss but on left-overs they will take a little less profit. From what I see for Canadian costs that 15K is pretty low already so there may not be much wiggle-room. But go for the top..and if the compromise is still do-able..do it. Remember..you are the customer...it's your money, get all you can from it. I would hold fast for all the normal features though...at least.

A lot of dealers add stuff to them on their own.  Why they wouldn't come with a roof I am not sure. In 2016 mine came with a roof and I thought that was factory for all CFmoto side by sides as well as winch. The 1000's come with half doors factory as far as I know. Other models if they have doors the dealer added them afterwards. A plow the dealer would have added afterwards.
