Just wanted to send another thank you for the rubber hood tie down idea. That worked great. They held the box in very nicely and let me remove it when I wanted to haul some fire wood back to camp. Thanks again Glenlivet.

ZForce 800 EX, 53 & Trail / Turn signal parts but not all
September 26, 2022, 09:07:34 AM
Ok I decided I wanted turn signals on my 2018 800 trail. Looking at the machine, I have the switch and the flasher is there under the hood. It kinda looks like maybe someone started to add them? I don't have any lights in the front that I can see. The switch does nothing. When I went looking for a way to add them, I found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqSnfuuOZKg&t=13s I'm wondering is it normal to have the switch and flasher but nothing else? Is what I have going to mess up adding them like that video? Since I got the unit used, where can I get the plug ends for the front lights?

Well universal gauge installed. Now I have another problem. I have it sorta fixed, but it needs to be better. The ground wire for the gauge just fell out of the plug. It looks like it was cut off. I can look in the plug with a flashlight there isn't any wire left up in there. I can't seem to get the metal clip out so I could solder it on there. Are these things some sort of pinch connection and not soldered? Any one have any idea how to get a new plug or what tool it takes to get the metal piece out?

Since I've had the fuel pump out, I tested the two wires on both the new and old pumps. The reason for the major difference in reading is because I was send the wrong unit. They used the same part number, but sent out the unit for an Australian moto. They seem to use a different pump and sending unit, but in the same housing. The new one is the right size, but has the float pointing in the wrong direction to install right for the hoses to hook up. So that explains the huge difference in the readings from the 2 sending units. I found a universal gauge on Amazon that should be here today. I'm just going to mount it under the dash and call it good. The gauge was a little over $20, so a cheap fix, compared to replacing the stock unit. I was going to use the stock wires, but after looking at how big of a pain it is to get to them. I'll just run new wires. No big deal, wiring is kinda my thing. I've completely rewire several cars over the years, so this won't be that hard of a fix.

The gauge just flashes with both units. I was switching pumps to get the fuel gauge to work.

Well it seems to run fine with the old pump and sending unit. So, not sure what adding an after market setup would mess up. They want you to disconnect the stock meter. Could that cause it to not pump or run right?
Maybe I will have to put in a resister or two to fake out the silly thing. Anyone run theirs with the fuel gauge disconnected?

Im thinking maybe a universal add on might be the best way to fix the problem and not even mess with cfmoto's weirdness problems.

Does anyone happen to know what the ohm reading is suppose to be on the sending unit. I have a gauge that just flashes. The dealer and others have said that is the sending unit most of the time. I put a new pump on, same problem. Old pump had between 8 and 40 ohms depending on position of the float. The new plump was between 40 and 350 or so. Pretty big difference Are either of those ranges close to what it is suppose to be? Or do I have a bigger problem than the sending unit?

I love the idea of the rubber hood latches, thanks. I just ordered some for my box. Now to read some more of the forum and come up with a battle plan for a snorkel setup. Thanks again Glenlivet

ZForce 800 EX, 53 & Trail / rear cargo box

I just got a 2017 trail 800. I'm looking for a storage box for the back. Has anyone used or tried to install either of these? https://www.amazon.com/Kimpex-Rear-KIMPEX-175L-Cargo/dp/B01NBFYR14/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2U0YM4ZIX84C9&keywords=utv+boxes+for+the+rear&qid=1658241366&sprefix=utv+box%2Caps%2C206&sr=8-2 https://www.amazon.com/Kimpex-Expedition-Sport-Box-Black/dp/B00XQ5ZV7I/ref=sr_1_4?crid=ES2U9PGBNPUU&keywords=Kimpex+360006&qid=1658240835&sprefix=kimpex+360006+%2Caps%2C262&sr=8-4 I've seen the one from Russia but really having a hard time convincing myself that a plastic box is worth $500. So, trying to find something a little bit cheaper.
