Swat 600
« on: August 25, 2020, 09:20:00 AM »
Hi there, I own a CFMOTO Swat 600 but can't find much info on this side by side. I was hoping I might get a little help here. Recently my bike began running hot, the radiator fan wasn't cutting in so I bypassed the fan from the temp. switch so that it came on as soon as i turned the key on the bike. It didn't help. I also replaced the Temp. switch on the radiator but it didn't help. I drained the antifreeze and took the outer housing off the water pump, the pump looked fine and if I put a wrench on the center nut of the impeller I can turn the impeller & crank shaft. I'm guessing if the crankshaft turns when I turn the nut then the pump should be working when the bike is running. Can the pump not work even tho' the crank turns on the nut on the impeller?

If you can turn the crankshaft then the pump impeller must also turn while running. You might just have a stuck thermostat. Pull it and test it by dropping it into how water. The manual...any service manual shows you how to watch the temperature while it's opening and closing...all are the same. If stuck, it won't flow water and overheating will happen. Also because the hot coolant isn't getting to the radiator, the fan switch won't trip the fan on either. So, it sounds like a flow issue...and 9 out of 10 times it's the thermostat.

Thank you NMKawierider I will give that a try.

Well now bad luck can really get disheartening at times, thanks to NMKawierider I solved the overheating problem with my Swat 600. Sooo… to give it a proper check I took the bike for a short spin. First I noted a lack of power and the bike struggled to climb a hill.

Now the Clutch had to be changed after just over 200KM, (2nd year of ownership) plus door hinges fell apart after 2.5 years. According to the dealer the clutch was under warranty but not labor to fix it. No warranty on door hinges. I’m guessing now either the clutch is going again or the belt is worn despite just over 1000km on the bike. In addition to that before I could turn in to my garage the brakes failed. No resistance whatsoever. You’ll have to forgive this grumbling ole’ man but I sunk everything I had to spare into that bike and got very little enjoyment out of it, lots of frustration but very little enjoyment. I’m very disappointed in CFMOTO right now
