Water temp gauge?
« on: May 22, 2026, 09:06:02 PM »
I have a 2018 cfmoto z force 800.It's hard at times to see
the water temp gauge when the sun is blasting me in the eyes.So i thought
i would hook up a real temp gauge and go with that.
Plus it would be nice to know how hot it's running.
I have looked at ebay and a few other places and i'm not sure which
one to get.
Has anyone switched gauges with a real one and did it do what you
were wanting.Plus i don't need nothing that is going to be a pia to
install.I just think knowing how hot the motor is running would
be a plus. The factory gauge has never gone past 3 bars.
Thier are so many choices out there it's kinda rough to get some
thing good.

I thought about it over the years but have yet to justify having one as mine...like yours spends most of it's time in the 3-bar range which is normal with the occasional bump to 4-bar momentarily. The 2018s are a bit different then the 2014-2017s in that the sensors..or rather the sending units are built different. I would want mine to have both so it would need plumbed-in with a "T" to run both but that means neither would be directly in the water jacket and that would give a lower reading then actual. On my Brute Force I installed a sensor in the upper radiator hose which is the hot coming from the engine to the radiator...and it was great.. so if I actually do it someday that's how I will go it again. I would be more concerned for oil pressure on these Chinese engines. As is you only know when it gets below 6 or 8psi as that's when the light comes on.
