The Mongrels are a great trail and rock tire but there are better for mud like Silverbacks or Terminators or Outlaws..which by the way are the choice of most murders on MIMB. Now weight... that's a problem but maybe look at OL2s or even the new ITP mudlites. There are a ton more.

I think it's the mud lites that are extremely light mud tire. They will barely weight more than your stock tires. stock are around 22lb front and 24lb rear I think. I have 29" dirt commanders they are 8 ply and not as heavy as other 8 ply I think 28lb front and 32lb rear. About as light as they get for 8 ply but they are more of an all around tire. I do like them a lot, they only thing I would say is they don't have the best side bite but better than stock. Forward bite is great though they have quite large lugs.

do you have any close up pic of your front tires to see clearance between tire and flare?

Not at the moment, and I am at work. I can tell you it doesn't ever rub and I have a 2 inch lift at the moment. I do quite a bit of crawling with max articulation, never a rub

anybody ever run the tusk terrabite tires?doesn't seem like there is a lot in a 29" tire is there gonna be an issue with 30's and if the 30's are not an issue are they gonna rob to much power? i want all the ground clearance i can get but don't want to sacrifice power.

Every pound you add takes power...and the larger the tire, the larger the orbiting rotational mass is. Both robs power and torque. Can get some back with the clutch work...but there is only so much power...even at it's peak RPM range, 63 horses doesn't go very far.. so watch that weight if power is important to you.

I've heard it said that as far as power and performance goes, each added pound of tire/wheel weight has the same effect as four static added pounds on the vehicle. I don't know the science behind this but in my experience it seems about right.

If I remember I will tonight, my profile picture is with the lift and the 29's. If you aren't lifting it my picture will not be an accurate representation for you. I really don't ride in mud. I do a little but but nothing deep. I ride mostly woods trails rocks stream bed. They are great all around but I can't say how they are in deep mud. They will not be as good as a tire meant for mud but they will do just fine for my riding style. If you do a lot of mud and deep mud I would look at the mud lites, they are light and have a true mud pattern.

Yeah I thought the load rating was a little light for a SxS being 410 & 480 lbs for their 27x14s where my Reapers are 1075 & 1120 for the same 27x14s. Good luck with the new ones.
