Opinions on rzr 900 vs cfmoto, what problems rzr any info. Guys, tks

Two different animals.

My BiL bought a Rzr900 loaded last April - we're talking full doors, roof, winch, storage box in the bed, front/rear windshields, PS, etc. Price OTD was $16,300. At the time, i was looking at a ZF800 Trail EPS for $11,200 OTD. That is a HUGE difference. The ProStar 900 motor is a very good motor, offering 75hp and is a very well balanced SxS, with no real weaknesses and a lot of potential as well as an aftermarket that is insanely populated with every conceivable type of upgrade that your heart desires, and some that you never even knew you needed ! Hopefully Jason, our site admin, chimes in on how well his Rzr is treating him. The only 'problem', and this is a BIG one for some owners, is the steady stream of recalls that the owners have endured, and they are rather scary - these are 'stop ride' recalls and affected well over 53,000 vehicles. The CF Moto is a Chinese built 'clone' of many UTVs, including the older Rzr 800 using a Rotax based 800 motor, so as NMK already mentioned, its a different animal that more closely compares to the older Rzr800. It is a solid choice, but where you really need to be careful is with your local dealer, and that dealer's support. A great dealer will make more of a difference in your overall purchase 'experience' than anything else. Having availability for spare parts is critical to your purchase. Polaris dealer network is IMMENSE - if you don't like your local dealer, you can drive to the next town and deal with that one. With the CF Moto, there aren't a lot of genuinely well regarded dealers available as it stand. They are getting better, but they can also improve in that regard.

The newer CF Moto ZForce 1000 EX (not released to dealers yet) is a much better comparison to the Rzr 900. It ups the HP to around 88 I think, and everybody wants more power these days (whether they need it or not - don't get me started on that discussion !!). I am a huge fan of the ZForce 800, and did enough research to know that it is one helluva bargain if you know its trouble spots (bad paper air filter, prematurely failing thermoswitchs and poorly torqued nuts during dealer final assembly).

I seriously wanted to buy one until a used Wildcat Trail fell into my lap for such a low price that I had no choice but to buy it. At $6,100, it was a full 10k cheaper than my BiL's loaded Rzr900, and I put maybe $900 tops into upgrades, and it will run right with his 900 on pretty much every trail that we've ridden. It's such an overlooked 50" ride that I am honestly shocked more prospective buyers don't stop and look at them. There are some real bargains out there on them, and while they have a few faults to deal with (tighter cabin space than a Rzr 900 or CF Moto, crappy springs, restrictive exhaust) these issues can be easily remedied by putting some money into aftermarket parts.

My brother has a 900. For over a year now, we have gone toe to toe. I have seen nothing out of the 900 to indicate it is superior to my 800.
His has been recalled, mine has not. Both have had minor issues. The big difference is I have an extra $4k in my pocket.
Having dealer support is definitely  neatly a Polaris advantage. But car vs car, I'll take another cf moto and keep my cash

IMO, to call the 800 a "clone" is like calling a chevy pickup a "clone" of a ford pickup. Ya, they look similar but are completely different vehicles.

Agreed Karmis! And I really like having the "engine breaking" when going down a steep hill vs. the free wheeling of the RZR.

Apologies if clone was too harsh of a description. Essentially, anything is a clone of a product that originated at an earlier time. The Rzr was not the first UTV - the Rhino was - but it was the first sport UTV, so by my definition anything after it would be considered a clone of a Rzr. No malice intended when using that word. It is a sport UTV, no arguing on that point at least. 

GFmoto - I think the proper term you want is 'engine braking', as if you have engine breaking going downhill, that's bad news. 

Not sure if I understood that last comment correctly but why is engine braking bad, my last Kwai Teryx had it never felt  out of place, I would u save ur brakes over a free wheeling unit.

He just meant the difference between Breaking and Braking...

Lol, engine braking is far better than engine breaking. I do love the engine braking. When climbing down a steep loose hill or a rock waterfall, the last thing you want to do is use your brakes.

Lol, yeah damn autocorrect!! BRAKING. And yes, as far as "clone" goes, my neighbor always asks, "how's the RZR running?" It's just that the rzr had become so mainstream that people considered it to be the birth of SXS's. Calling your refrigerator a "Frigidaire" even if it's made by Samsung. The CFMoto is its own thing, AND it does resemble a mix of many machines. In any case they're ALL clones of the all mighty golf cart! Lol

In any case it's still a great looking machine.
