A'ight.
first impressions.
I end up spending a lot of pavement time (more than I thought I would) which is part of why I went with an AT type tire.
Pavement wise, these things are well mannered, responsive and very controllable.
they are also nearly whisper quiet. I had to lean quite a ways off to hear them humming on the road.
They really dont have a sawblade howl at all.
Traction wise?
I'm still new at ATVs, so I have exactly one set of tires to compare to and thats the stock CST Abuzz tires.
Which did everything I have reasonably asked them too. Including ice skating on a very large frozen puddle one early winter day last fall.
It was a blast. . .
The CST did fine in my backyard on relatively level ground in up to about 2 feet of snow and up the hill to my upper yard in up to eighteen inches depending on temperatures.
Trail wise I never found anything to complain about. The only real stuck I had was me being an idiot and not realizing the hill I tried to fly up was a big soft pile of gravel that required soft shackles, hard shackles, tree strap, winch, winch extension and fresh underwear to get out of.
The drier it has gotten as summer creeps questionably in here in North Idaho the more spin and slip I have been experiencing going uphill. (see my random videos to see what I mean by "uphill")
Considering Ive pounded the track into fine dust and gravel thats understandable.
Again, I have little to compare to but the ABUZZ tires have never failed to deliver or failed on me.
The 920 Snipers though . . . don't stand behind them.
just don't.
Probably wise to stay about twenty feet off to the side too.
The dog has already started taking a much wider track and I can hear angry squirrels and birds calling me all sorts of vile names as the tires send debris fliyng all over the place.
More throw and more go.
They definitely dig in and push the machine better than the CST tires do going up my backyard.
They tread compound is a bit harder than the CST with lots of biting edges and engineered siping and it is really FELT as I had to let off the throttle repeatedly to avoid lunging off somewhere I don't want to go.
The CST tires I generally stay on it hard enough to keep the belt fully engaged (so Im not slipping the belt in the sheaves) and just GO. I can maintain a pretty reasonable pace on them and can accelerate somewhat without useless spin.
On the Snipers I just went and found myself hanging on as I kept accelerating rather than just keeping a good solid run up the hill.
No where near as much free spin and the front lunges up if I nail the throttle.
They bite harder and faster and I found I have to steer predictively rather than responsively if I really get on the gas.The CST Abuzz was a bit lazier steering.
So these are an 8ply tire as well, rather than the 2ply. I printed the tires for contact when I mounted them and set the psi to where I just make full width contact.
NICE riding. I took a couple of the minor whoopties and caught full air in the extended backyard and could reaily tell the heavy sidewall soaked up a lot more energy and the suspension worked less hard and the ride was really smooth.
So far I really like them.
