« on: August 06, 2017, 07:20:46 PM »
was out riding today and hit a rock put hole in side wall we plugged hole to get it back to camp and noticed steering wheel cross bar was positioned straight up and down instead of being straight across started looking for problems strapped both front tires so they could not move grabbed steering wheel and checked for any loose joints found none but was able to get the steering wheel back in proper position anybody else had this problem or does anybody have any ideas? i think the rack is bad myself.

Impacts like that depending on how it was turned many times bend either a tie rod of the rack itself. Better take a good look.

I have bent multiple tie rods (I race mine) and I have also bent a rack. The rack is impossible to SEE if you bent it but the steering CAN feel like its harder to turn the wheel in some spots more so than others if you bent the rack.  The tie rods should be straight and if they have an arch to them then they are bent.  The racks really are not THAT expensive if you did bend it.  Only slightly more than one tie rod.

And no, nothing moves up and down or back and forth in mine when turning it. I did have some loose spline connections on the upper part but with some extra tightening all is well.

If the wheel was off and you locked the wheels in place and was able to turn the wheel back to center I believe you have likely stripped a spline or gear or something. Or possible the rack is very loose and you actually moved the rack back and forth in which case it would need to be tightened or a mount broke. I don't know what the mounting or rack looks like I have not looked at it in person.

bent the shaft in the rack and pushed the nylon bushing out that explains everything that was going on.

Some have done it but as I understand it, there is some mount-mod that has to be done.

Did you got with a factory rack or one out of a RZR?  Just curious which one you went with because your last post you were asking about it and didnt know if you took the leap
