I'm running last minute as always.   Local place has the 4500LBS champion winch with synthetic rope, etc, on for a good deal.  Sale ends tonight.
Might have an issue returning if it doesn't fit (Physically, in the space..).  Any chance someone has installed this animal, or a similar sized one on a ZForce 500/800 (I believe they're the same)?
It's a little overkill, but if it makes the difference between getting me out of something, and not...I'd rather lean towards bigger than smaller.
I don't want to post a link, but googling    champion 4500LBS synthetic  will get you to it.

Anyone know if it'll go in there (2020 500 HO Trail)?    And while I'm at it, is 4500LBS too much overkill?

**Update....yes, it will.   :-)

Go to their web site and check the base and dimensions between the 3500 and 4500. Any 3500 will fit so if the champion 3500 and 4500 has the same base, and width and height, it should fit. I only know they use the same base up to s certain point...and the ZForce hasn't much extra room..but it does a little.  And yes, if I could get a 4500 in there...I would. :)

Perfect...had no idea what would jam in there and what wouldn't....that's what I needed to know...  Off to do some quick research.
Thanks!

I'm just say'n that if the base bolt pattern is the same and the height and length are pretty close...it has a good chance of going in...with a little patience.

Well, it's a little bigger than the 3500.   And I guess I'm still in the dark because I have no idea how much clearance a 3500 would have.  :p

3500
Length   13.0 in.
Width   4.1 in.
Height   4.2 in.

4500
Length   13.5 in.
Width   4.5 in.
Height   4.9 in.

Bolt "pattern" on both is 4.9 x 3

Problem with Canadian Tire is that if the box is opened, they usually won't accept a return.  At least a refund....
I'm going to go do some rough measuring....

I took your measurements out to mine and took a few more. Room-wise it looks like there is enough for one 14" long, 5.25" tall and 5.25" wide. Now getting in in there may be tricky as the base and the unit has to fit between the frame opening.. and the base bolt pattern has to match...well I guess you could drill some new ones but that would be tough as the mount stays in I think.

Thanks NMK...I take back all the bad things I said about you.  hehe
As they say, nuthin to it but to do it....so as you were taking your measurements, I was likely already walking to the cash register with it under my arm...

That was the most stupid easy winch "install" I ever did.   I tried to work it in without lowering the OEM mounting plate...alllllmmmmost...   Removed the top two bolts on the plate, tilted it down, in like sin.  I'm used to having to lay on the ground and try to jiggle bolts through holes that won't line up while you bench press the winch and 2 plates with your eyelids.
It bolts right up to the factory plate, everything's hand tight as a dry-fit proof-of concept...only snug spot is at the top right, but there's still 3/8" or so.  If I had to use a mounting plate on top of the factory plate, it might be time to break out the grinder...  :-)
The rear terminal looks close but it's to the side of that plug.  Plus I'll have to re-route the signal light wires..but no biggie.
A-winchin' we will go....

Oh, and if I bought it and it wouldn't fit, it would have been all your fault....just so you know...
