I know that nearly everyone is tempted....  But how often do you rip off some perfectly good OEM part, for something after-market that makes your machine ..... simply spectacular?

Who just blows some dough.... cause you gotta have the performance or the look?

My CForce 1000 has perfectly good, 6-ply 27's... but I want the Rocky Mountain 8 nply, 29's so bad, I am am considering blowing some dough.... 

Is this a sickness?

I think it's only natural for someone to want to make a new machine their own. Tires and wheel packages are usually the first thing. Making a decision on tires however does take some research and knowledge on the effects it will have on the machine and how it's used. For example 27" tires are at the top end of what most consider a nimble trail tire size. Going larger tends to change things quickly on tight fast trails that it may feel sluggish, slower and more tippy but.. in the open mud holes, larger and more aggressive is usually more desirable. Then there is the weight and the power loss that comes with that addition. Sure re-tuning the clutches will help but not always overcome it 100%. Mine for example are one size larger then it came with..and being an 8-ply radial and about 30% heavier then the OE 2-ply. I was able to get most of my power back but I also have never had a flat or traction issue on the trail sense.. where the OEs failed me three times. So I live with the weight...as well as the confidence a better tire gives me. So in short I can only suggest doing your homework and have your eyes wide open when you make this decision.

Agree on all fronts, but I have a 1000cc Twin with nearly too much power.  Adding bigger tires will not .... negatively... affect my power experience, but it will give me another 1" of clearance.  I am NOT in favor of a lift kit... as it would make the unit much more 'tippy'.

Running 8 ply... with maybe (knock on wood)... no flats.  29's will also give me a taller side wall and a smoother ride.

The Overland has a longer wheel base, so I don't see bigger tires being as negative as a normal sized ATV.
