After only 2 days, we got our first damage to the new CF800.  The Kids were driving around the property and ran over a branch that swung up and (somehow) put a 2" puncture in the side of the rear passenger seat.   First of all,  we are glad that nobody got hurt, and it did serve to reinforce my overprotective preaching on safety and need for protective gear when riding.

Anyway, now I have an ugly 2" hole and a chunk of foam missing.  I was a little surprised as how easily the seat was damaged.  Closer examination of the vinly shows it certainly is not the best material that CFM could have used.

So, I am now looking at better quality, marine grade vinyl to re-cover the seats.  Of course, I want it to be nicer than stock, without looking gawdy or home-grown.

Anyone else re-do their seats yet?  My wife had done a fair amount of upholstery work and has a nice sewing machine that's up to the task.  It would be nice if somebody had the patterns for the seat covers, but I am sure we can handle it once the seat is apart.

If you know how to do upholstery than just take the old cover apart for the pattern. Marine grade material will be a good choice. If it works out nice, than you might have a good side cash job if you wanted

Exactly what I plan to do.  The front looks super easy. The original does not have any seams.  I might replace it with a two-tone accent stripe.  The back will be a little harder.  I think it will be worth it so have a nicer and more durable seat.

It just stinks to look at my brand to ATV with less than 50 miles on it with a big ugly hole in the seat.  This project is just my way of dealing with it.

I think we all customize our rides in lots of ways. Yours will just start with the seat. Any upholstery shop can do a very nice job and you can add ribbing, anti slip or extra memory foam and accent panels where you want it.

Damage happens, I have seen guys cause 1000s worth of damage the first time they go out. Just expect to fix something every season and you won't feel so bad when it happens.

I have damage to one of my seats as well and I think I did it myself with the power washer.  Be more careful!
