I have noticed this happening the last couple of times I have gone out. I start my '22 800 trail, shift from park to high, and the indicator light changes from P to H just like it should. Then sometime in the middle of my ride the PARK indicator light comes back on and stays on so both the H and the P are lit up. Any ideas on what is going on? It does not seem to affect performance. The gear selection switch on the transmission has buttons on the inside that make contact with a spot on the shifter barrow and provide a ground for each position indicator LED. That..or any of the position indicator lights can come on at any time if they get that ground. Most often it means the selector switch is coming apart and needs replaced...however it can also mean there is a problem developing with the barrow itself or a bent shifter fork causing the barrow to be miss aligned..which would be bad, or there is a place somewhere in the harness that is making ground and it just happens to be on that wire..which is not likely or that lucky. The pod could also be having a problem internally. Try this- next time it does this push the shifter lock button in and just slightly move it in either direction...not enough to change gears if moving but if stopped it's OK. See if the Park light goes out at all. If so, does it come back on when the shifter is actually in the detent? or somewhere on it's way to the detent..like half way between. In either case the first thing I would do is replace the switch. While at it make sure the shifter linkage is adjusted correctly. Center it in Neutral.
