While I have mine apart waiting on the CVT temp gage to come, I decided it was a good time to service the clutches. On reassembly I checked the bearing in the cover and it felt very dry and even gritty. Although I couldn't get the bearing out easily I was able to remove the retainer and the seal which exposed the bearing so I could flush, clean, blow dry and repack with good marine grease.
Might be a good thing to check yours the next time you are in there.
