I'm a new CF Moto owner (2022 950 H.O. Sport) and have a few questions that maybe you could help me with:

1.  Which service manual do you recommend for this vehicle? I found a digital one but would like to know what you guys like.

2. The owners manual states that the valves should be checked and adjusted at the 20 hr break-in service. Have you found that this is really necessary? Will the valves come out of adjustment that soon? Is it worth it to have the dealer do it? I have been adjusting valves for years so that's not a problem.

3. The manual states to use 10W-40 oil but doesn't specify synthetic or dyno. Any preference?

4. What seems to be the best oil filter and air filter for this machine?

5. My machine did not come with a horn. Been looking for a switch to fit in the dash but am not sure which one would work. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

John

1. Personally I prefer a book, but thats preference.
2. YES. Follow the maintenance procedure. Your rings and valves need to wear in properly. Ive taken it so far as to keep records of such adjustments and changes, too.
3. From what I understand they stock the difs and trans with synthetic and the Engine with mineral/conventional to start with. Your changing it out anyway, but after the initial break in plus one oil change, you can run either conventional or synthetic.
4. Im not sure of which part number your is, but people seem to recommend the UNIFilter, and it is way better than the factory one. Works great on mine. There IS a post here somewhere with a basic list of recommended changes from the more experienced folks here.
5. Uhmm . . yell really loud?

Welcome John. Congrats on the new 950. I'll answer what I can.

1. Get any service manual you can for your machine. As ling as it covers your year, it doesn't matter weather it digital or hard copy.
2. Valves should be at least checked after the initial break-in period. Some have needed adjustment...but most don't. Better to know.
3. You can go to synthetic after the second oil change.
4. Sense Unifilter..to my knowledge..hasn't yet made a filter for the 950, the only choice I know of is the CFM filter...and although there are some oil filters out there that somewhat fit, the CFM oil filter is the only one that fits 100% correctly. Hopefully that will change soon.
5. I believe the 950 has the same rockers the rest have and if that's true, all rockers of that type have a standard base and will fit the punch-outs on the dash. The heads are different so do some shopping.

Thanks to those who replied.

Staying with regular oil for the first 2 changes makes sense as I have heard (for many years) that regular oil is better for break-in than synthetic.

I'm looking at these filters from Amazon but don't know about the quality. Any comments?  amazon.com/Yslmotor-2-PACK-ENGINE-CF-MOTO-0800-011300/dp/B092Z9J677/ref=asc_df_B092Z9J677?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=80195758656902&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583795277992220&psc=1

Thanks,

John

Try your dealer to see what filter they use. My dealer stocks the OEM filter and the HiFlo 152. The HiFlo is about 2/3 the cost of OEM. I use the Cfmoto oil filter on my machine that's under warranty and the HiFlo on the other 2. As for synthetic, there is nothing wrong with using it after break in. I personally don't because I'd rather change it often with conventional than let it go longer with synthetic. I actually enjoy doing maintenance on my machines so it's not a bother.
