Hey all,

Just picked up brand new 2022 uforce 1000 today.  Less than a mile on it at pick up.  Towed it an hour home.  Might have been shoody strap and winch job, but the ebrake didnt hold it in place at all- moved back about 4 inches (did i mention shoddy strap job? Thought winch would help hold so didnt worry, but didnt think that wire may have give in it).
Anywho, one i got it off trailer i took it for maiden drive on property.  First thing i noticed is the brakes suck.  Sure, engine slows it down great, but on a hill i had to push brake pedal down as hard as possible to stop (had to switch to 4x4).  Then, going down hill it was all i could do to stop.

Are the brakes terrible or is there something i should look for on my brand new machine with now 6 miles on it?  Is it maybe a breaking in period on the brakes?

Thanks in advance!  This is my first atv/utv of any kind, first brand new vehicle for that matter.

First..CFM brakes can suck..bad, but there is usually a reason and we'll get to that. Second, NEVER use the winch to hold it on a trailer unless you want to replace the winch or cable. Just don't do it. Third, e-brakes..when adjusted right stop the wheel from turning. That won't stop the unit from bouncing and moving on the trailer. Only correct strapping will do that. Adjust the e-brake so the engine can't move the unit with it applied normally and use it..with the transmission in neutral during transport with it strapped-down properly.

OK..sucky brakes. From experience, mine also came from the dealer with sorry brakes...so bad it too was like having NO brakes. It was because of a couple-three..maybe four of things. First, the factory had put a coating on the brake rotors to keep them from rusting during the ship transport across the ocean that the dealer was to spray off..but didn't. Next, there was air in the system that needed bled-out. And third, no anti-rust..or grease was used on the sliders of the calipers so they all rusted and seized during transport. And finally, the pad materials CFM uses is very cheap and very hard and have a low friction factor. After fixing all this and putting on a set of softer pads from EBC, I can stop with only using one foot on the peddle..not two. NOT anywhere close to my friend's RzR which is like a car with power brakes but at least I can slide all fours if needed. You should complain to your dealer and bring up these points.

Were you ever able to resolve your brake issue? I have the same problem on my brand new uforce 1000

Over 2000 miles on my machine now. The brakes are good, not great. They do get better after a couple hundred miles. They are downright awful until broken in.

NMK . . EBC makes pads for these things?
I run them (EBC) on my old Shovelhead and have used them on other bikes.
Mine arent horrible (I use the engine braking pretty efficiently now) but I wouldn't mind better pads.

Yeah but at last check EBC wasn't making them for all CFMs. They did for mine. If they do I suggest..or recommend the softest material possible..I think it's their X ..not the bi-metal. Chinese metal in their rotors can't take it and the softer material gives better brakes with less pressure. Wears a little faster..but stops way better.

Awesome.
I suspect in short order folks might be picking up on directed after market.
the small things aside this is still a Solid machine.
Folks would be dumb not to build an aftermarket supply for them.
