Hi have been trying to figure out if this is something I should worry about..images are of 2nd oil change on my Cforce 400 at 1510 Km..chunks of metal was found in oil. Nothing was on drain bolt. And even though it has 1510 km, it is considered the break in due to the fact that bought new during winter and only used in driveway for snow.
During vacation last month I put 450KM on it, that I consider my break in..can anyone tell me if this is normal

I'll say it again here- I would expect some small amounts of fine materials and maybe a touch of aluminum...but not mangled chunks of stuff like that. Put a magnet to it and see if its steel or aluminum and let us know. Otherwise just keep an eye...and ear to it for new and strange sounds. Hopefully whatever is going to happen will while the warranty is in effect. Push it a little.

Put a magnet to it and yes, it sticks to the magnet so it is metal. planning on going to my dealer in the morning to show the pic & see what he has to say. the issue with my dealer is, he doesnt want to do warranty work, only after i bought the bike did i find out the horrible track record the man has at things like this.
my plan is to push it as you said, do another oil change after about 100km and see if there is still flakes in it and then i know, theres a real issue..these flakes seem way to large to be normal

I was hoping it was aluminum as it might have been some trash left over from machining but...its steel so its something else. Well, maybe that's just what it took to break-in.

Thank you, I will be going to my dealer today.. When the oil was changed friday, I contacted my dealer & told him of the problem. I was told that was normal. After thinking on it a few min I text my dealer the pics you see here & he never said a word. My dealer is well know for not wanting to bother with warranty work, inface he even trys to charge the customer for the cost of the parts. The bike was bought right off the show floor, with in 2 months of having it, the steering box went out. I feel as if I purchased a lemon.

What happened to this? Did you get it fixed? I'm having the same issue with my CFMOTO 500S I know this has been out there a while but I too have an issue with my 2021 CFMOTO 500S with the first oil change. After pulling the drain plug on the first oil change a stream of metal bits came out of the engine. It was shocking. At first I was like what? I thought the engine had blown or something. What I found after draining the oil was the inter threads were coming out of the drain. Meaning some type of thread job had been done and that thread sleeve on the drain bolt was coming undone and out into my drained oil. Shocking. I've never seen anything like this with an ATV. This was the first oil change on the 500S. We just dropped it off at the dealership we purchased it from and they didn't give us any indication it would be covered under our extended warranty. We've got 20 hours on this thing and we don't use it much. Again the first time the plug was pulled. The damage is unbelievable for a bike we purchased 1 1/2 years ago and just did the first oil change.
