At times it seemed that my engine was starving for fuel so I pulled the tank and cleaned the fuel system a month or so back, I found a lot of dirt in the bottom of the tank and the filter on the foot of the fuel pump was about 50% blocked, I also found something strange in the tank a small washer shaped object somewhat like the fiber washers to protect automotive battery terminals, this thing seemed to be thin layers of plastic and red scotch brite, anyway cleaned the whole system from tank to injector and all seems well except for this annoying hum from the fuel pump, at the same time I pulled the tank I was doing my apprentice work at the NMK correspondence school of dust, sound and noise prevention and I insulated the rear wall behind the seats and the entire center console and it is a lot quieter in the cab now, so I am wondering if the hum from the pump is normal and was always there and I just couldn't hear it above the clammer of the engine or if something is not quite right.
